Sustainability
Sustainable business practices represent a method of conducting business that creates sustainable, long-term value for a company's various stakeholders, including shareholders, employees, consumers, and society, by implementing responsible strategies for the environment (E), society (S), and governance (G).
For many stakeholders, it is insufficient for a company merely to be profitable. The company must also demonstrate good citizenship, for example through environmental awareness, ethical behaviour, and sound governance practices.
Investors and other stakeholders, for instance, need to be assured that a company uses legal and transparent business and accounting methods free from conflicts of interest and corruption. To be sustainable, a company must be profitable, and to remain profitable, it must be sustainable.
